CARNO WIND FARM – PHASE I

Built in 1996 the Carno I site comprises 56 wind turbines, each rated at 600kW giving a total installed capacity of 33.6MW. The site generates 63,300MWh of electricity per annum, enough to meet the domestic needs of 18,039 homes*.

The site is owned and operated by Ventient Energy and at the time of its construction, it was the largest onshore wind farm in Europe.
