ABOUT US

The Carno Wind Farm is located some 4km to the west of the Carno village in mid Wales. The wind farm is located on farm land, predominately moorland, and is situated 400m – 500m above sea level covering an area of around 800 hectares.

The site is currently made up of two phases which comprise of 68 wind turbines in total with an installed generating capacity of 49.2MW. Planning permission was secured for a third phase in 2017 to install an additional 13 wind turbines at the site with an additional generating capacity up to 50MW.

LOCAL COMMUNITY

The Carno Wind Farm supports the local communities of Carno, Llanbrynmair and Trefeglwys with a comprehensive community benefit package. Each community manages its own fund which support a wide variety of local groups and organisations.

Recent projects have included providing funding towards the building of a new school and playground in Carno, providing funding for new furniture at Ysgol Llanbynmair, and support for improvements to a community recycling project in Trefeglwys. The wind farm also supports sustainable projects in the wider mid Wales area.
